Asheville Market Insight, March 2024

by Pete Anderson

Spring has sprung in the mountains of North Carolina and we're seeing a classic seasonal uptick in housing inventory. Is it enough to quell buyer demand? No, no it's not. Options have increased and inventory has increased but part of the reason for that is that buyers have slowed down and are taking their time to find the right property. They aren't jumping at the first home they see unless it truly makes the grade and thus inventory levels are up a bit. Unfortunately for buyers (fortunately for sellers) though, so are prices on a year over year basis. The trick to navigate this or any other market? Whether you're buying or selling, it's preparation, it's understanding the current market conditions and what the typical terms and dollar figures are for an offer as well as what an expected percent of original list price received might be. This knowledge, combined with an understanding of your goals, will set you on the right path.
